"The Story of a Suicide" by Ian Parker, is about a boy named Tyler Clementi who committed suicide. People thought the reason is because his roommate, Dharun Ravi took a video of him and another man having sex, and posted on the internet. Ravi, on the other hand, being the main suspect as the reason why Clementi suicided, has to face court order. Ian then wrote about Ravi's and Clementi's different personalities, how they have different backgrounds and how Ravi made fun of Clementi just because he is gay, poor and uncool.

After i read the story, it got me thinking whether Ravi is the main reason why Clementi committed suicide or is it his insecurity? I mean Ravi did joke about Clementi's sexuality but is it enough to kill a person? My opinion on this matter is that this whole incident is both Ravi's and Clementi's fault. I mean sure Ravi is mean and he harassed about Clementi's sexuality but Clementi himself is too insecure about this particular matter. If he just had let it go and didn't think about how the society thought of him, he will not only be still alive but also, he might even become an idol or a significant person in this particular subject. It is wrong on Ravi's side to post a sex tape of Clementi thou, but is it wrong enough to put him in jail for 10 years? No, i think it is just too much. The reason why Clementi had a suicide is because he let himself get overwhelmed by the society's thought, Ravi's incident is just a thing that triggered it.
