"The Story of A Suicide"is about a college freshmen (Dharun Ravi) who is accused as the cause of his college roommate's (Tyler Clementi) suicide. Ian Parker writes about how Ravi set up a webcam to catch his gay roommate Clementi having intercourse with another man and also writing mean comments about Clementi to his friends. He also writes about the differences between the two guys growing up.
I believe the authorities shouldn't hastily conclude that Ravi was the only cause for Clementi's suicide. This couldn't be Clementi's first time being exposed to harassment about his sexuality. Although Ravi was probably the last major factor to Clementi's death, he shouldn't be the only one held accountable. I don't believe 10 years in prison is fair. It seems Ravi didn't know the consequences of his actions and didn't seem like he was purposely trying to kill his roommate.
