Story of a Suicide Part 2

During this several of pages that i have just read, Ian Parker now focuses about the Tyler's side of the story and how it led to the suicide. He talked a little bit about Tyler's high school life, his friends, his activity on the internet and his reactions when he saw and knew about Dharun's actions and tweets. He also talked about how Dharun and Molly acted during Tyler's "Private times" with M.B.

After reading the second part of the story, I feel more sympathized towards both Clementi and Ravi. Clearly Ravi's actions are just not that harmful enough to make him go to jail for five to ten years. I mean sure he tweeted that his roommate is taking the room for the night and stuff, implying that he is having sex again, and sure he took several of peeps while Tyler's private times but its not just that bad. By that bad, i mean bad enough to go to jail for ten years. Ravi's actions can be clearly be looked at as actions of a normal teenager, who just want to be famous or be "cool" on the internet by posting something funny or sarcastic by hurting other people a little bit. Even though peeping Tyler kissing with another man is out of the boundary, it is not as if he is recording and posting it on internet. And if the government is thinking this as an invasion of privacy what about thousands of scandals and intimate photos of celebrities on the internet. Aren't those invasion of privacy also? In my opinion those are even worse than this particular case. Ravi clearly liked Tyler as a friend, and I don't think Ravi is the reason it all happened. It is not that I'm taking Ravi's side but if only Tyler stopped posting on the forums and just went straight to Ravi, talk with him and straightened things out, all of this can be avoided. Standing up for yourself is a way better choice than jumping off the bridge after all.
