Roy Peter Clark Response
Clark talks about reading being a punishment, which I agree it can sometimes feel like. We're told to write based on amounts and deadlines as opposed to content so it can be unmotivating to write for school. I wish it wasn't this way because I like to write. I still, however, find it hard to enjoy writing for class assignments.

Class assignments are rarely enjoyable -- and this is coming from a writing teacher! The problem is probably that we, as writers, never get to write about ideas or problems that we are genuinely interested on. If you are in a psychology class because it is required NOT because you are interested in it, then perhaps the assignment won't be fun.
